Hypnosis is “being open to suggestion” a natural relaxed trance like state of focused attention, an altered state of consciousness and heightened responsiveness to suggestion. Even though it is 100% natural and normal, it remains one of the most fascinating phenomena of the human mind.
Hypnosis is thought to work by altering our state of consciousness in such a way that the analytical left-hand side of the brain is turned off, while the non-analytical right-hand side is made more alert. The conscious control of the mind is inhibited, and the subconscious mind awoken.
Hypnosis has been successfully used for thousands of years and with the help of a trained practitioner, the subconscious part of the mind is best able to respond creatively to suggestion and imagery. You are however, not asleep nor are you unconscious, you are in a relaxed trance like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration. This state of hypnosis allows you to focus on the things you wish to change, and on the ways you can best do so. Hypnosis has been known to have been used successfully, for pain, anxiety, stress, memory, weight and many habit or addictive disorders like smoking, alcohol or sugar plus so much more.
